The board of directors of the Pleasanton-based Evergreen Underground Water Conservation District canvasses votes from the May 4 annexational election in southern Bexar County: 322 for, 348 against. Some supporters of annexation thanked the board May 8 for holding the election. "We don’t consider this a done issue," one added. Evergreen Director Darrell Brownlow and General Manager Mike Mahoney, both regional water planners, urged the southern-Bexar residents to use the South Central Texas Regional Water Planning Group as a forum for their concerns over metropolitan pumping of the Carrizo Aquifer in their area. The Evergreen board also agreed to indefinitely table a proposal to change district rules to allow "aquifer storage and recovery" in Wilson, Atascosa, Karnes, and Frio counties. __________________________
